16 May STEMPilot Joins STEM Day at M.M. Generali Elementary in Waterbury, CT
We had an incredible time attending this year’s STEM Day at M.M. Generali Elementary School in Waterbury, Connecticut! STEMPilot was honored to be part of a panel of passionate STEM professionals who spoke to the student body about our careers, how we use STEM every day, and why STEM is essential to the future of education.
The students came prepared—with thoughtful questions, sharp curiosity, and a real excitement to learn. It was inspiring to see how engaged they were in learning about different career paths and how science, technology, engineering, and math are part of the world around them.
After the assembly, we had the chance to meet with some of the 5th and 6th grade students for a hands-on session. We challenged their knowledge of flight, gave them the chance to fly a takeoff mission on our Edustation flight simulator, and guided them through labeling the basic parts of an airplane.
We’re always amazed by the reactions of teachers when they see just how motivated and focused their students become during our sessions. It’s proof that experiential learning works—especially when students get to take the controls!
This event is just one example of the outreach STEMPilot is proud to do in schools. Being based in Waterbury, Generali Elementary is right in our backyard, and it means a lot to connect with our local community in such a meaningful way. We also had the pleasure of meeting the Interim Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent, which made the day even more special.
Thank you to the staff and students at M.M. Generali for such a warm welcome and for making this STEM Day one to remember. We can’t wait to come back and continue inspiring future aviators, engineers, and innovators—right here at home.
