04 Jun San Miguel Academy Takes Flight with STEMPilot and Skilled Trades Leaders
At STEMPilot, we believe that aviation is more than just a subject—it’s a pathway. And one of our most dedicated partners on this journey is San Miguel Academy, a school that continues to lead by example when it comes to integrated STEM education and career exploration.
Recently, San Miguel Academy welcomed leaders from various trade organizations who spoke to students about the powerful opportunities available in the skilled trades. From fully funded apprenticeship programs to rewarding, well-paying careers, the message was clear: there are many ways to build a successful future. The visit was made possible by Alan Seidman, Executive Director of the Construction Contractors Association, whose continued support of student-focused career exploration is inspiring.
The day concluded with something that made us especially proud—a live STEMPilot demonstration led by two of San Miguel’s own 8th grade students. As part of their aviation curriculum, these students showcased the knowledge and hands-on skills they’ve gained using our flight simulators. For us, this was not just a demonstration—it was proof of how powerful early exposure to aviation and STEM careers can be.
San Miguel Academy stands out as one of our most integrated partner schools. They continue to embed aviation into the fabric of their STEM department, using our simulators not only to teach flight but also to connect those lessons to broader career pathways. Whether it’s aviation or allied trades, their students are gaining access to futures that defy the odds.
Tomorrow, we’re excited to return to San Miguel Academy to lead a professional development training session for their Humanities and Science departments. The goal? To help educators better sync our simulators into their curriculum, enhancing student engagement and strengthening STEM skills through the power of flight. We’re not just bringing tools—we’re building bridges between classroom learning and real-world application.
We are forever grateful to San Miguel Academy for continuously inviting their district leaders and surrounding schools to witness the impact of aviation in the classroom. Their commitment to showing how flight can be a valuable and viable skill for students has been nothing short of extraordinary.
Don’t forget to check out all that San Miguel is doing to create the future leaders of tomorrow on their Instagram @sanmiguelprogram—see their students in action and get inspired by the amazing work happening in their classrooms.
