25 Sep Soaring to Aviation Events; Bi-Costal Weekend with STEMPILOT!
This past weekend, STEMPILOT was proud to take part in two inspiring aviation events on opposite coasts: Girls in Aviation Day (GIA Day) with Women in Aviation’s Connecticut Chapter, and Douglas Day with the Spirit of Santa Monica. Both celebrations brought students, families, and aviation enthusiasts together to experience the joy of flight while highlighting the power of STEM learning.
Girls in Aviation Day
– 10 Years of Inspiring the Next Generation
The Connecticut Chapter of Women in Aviation marked its 10th year of Girls in Aviation Day, and the experience continues to grow bigger and better each time. This year’s event featured:
-
-
- Pratt & Whitney, Connecticut’s aviation powerhouse
- The U.S. Air Force engaging future aviators
- SIGN UP FOR FREE EXPLORITORY FLIGHTS
- Rocket experiments, Keychain making, Flight Planning using TAC charts and biometric scope demonstrations that wowed students
-
STEMPILOT was honored to be a contributing sponsor, sharing our Free Teachers’ Tip Booklet with every attendee through the event’s goodie bags. We also had the pleasure of watching students and families explore our SAFEDRONE simulator and Flight Simulator Edustation—some for the very first time!
One highlight of the day came when we reconnected with a student from John Wallace Middle School, one of our partner schools. She was excited to practice a specific flight pattern she’s looking forward to flying this upcoming school year. She seized the opportunity, and we’re proud to say she pulled off the best takeoff and landing of the entire day!
Thanks to our Grade A STEMPILOT tech support, a quick on-site fix ensured everyone could enjoy the simulators without a hitch. It’s just another reminder that being part of the STEMPILOT family means having reliable support every step of the way.
We loved reconnecting with frequent flyers, welcoming new ones, and enjoying the thrill of takeoffs happening right outside the hangar.
Douglas Day – Aviation History Meets Student Discovery
Meanwhile, on the West Coast, STEMPILOT joined the Spirit of Santa Monica for Douglas Day, honoring the legendary Douglas Aircraft legacy while celebrating flight in the community.
From open to close, students of all ages lined up to experience our simulators—proving once again that hands-on STEM learning through flight is truly universal.
Our owner, Jay LeBoff, and his daughter, Ariel Barhartt-Leboff, spent the day immersed in the excitement, sharing the joy of aviation with new friends and old. They left the event energized and eager to return again and again.
Why These Events Matter
From the history-rich hangars of Santa Monica to the future-forward classrooms of Connecticut, both events highlighted the same truth: aviation inspires curiosity, builds confidence, and connects students to real-world STEM pathways.
At STEMPILOT, we’re grateful to be part of these journeys—providing tools, simulators, curriculum, and unwavering support that help students take flight, both literally and academically.
Here’s to many more events filled with discovery, takeoffs, and the next generation of aviators.
