Middle and high school aviation club students at Dove Science Academy recently hosted a grand opening for the school’s new aviation lab, which has nearly half a dozen flight training simulators.

The behind-the-scenes look in Dove’s simulated flight environment included tutorials on navigating traffic patterns on the same simulators used by pilots in training, as well as a look at the educational components taught during the program.

Jason Telfer, a veteran Army pilot, leads the aviation club and puts into practice Dove’s vision to prepare students for college with a focus on STEM. Through project-based learning, Dove’s approach focuses on creating, exploring and problem-solving.

The Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission provided Dove Schools with more than $19,000 to fund the aviation lab.
